China Fleet Country Club Welcomes the Royal Navy’s Second Sea Lord

The Chair of China Fleet Trust, Rear Admiral Weale CB OBE (Rtd) along with members of the Trust and Company were honoured to welcome the Royal Navy’s Second Sea Lord (2SL) on Thursday the 30th of May 2024. The call of Vice Admiral Martin Connell CBE RN marked the first official visit of a serving 2SL to the Club since 2014 and signifies the Club’s enduring priority to ensure that their beneficiaries are at the heart of every decision that is made by the Trust.

Primary beneficiaries of China Fleet Country Club are serving personnel in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary, Maritime Reserve personnel and their immediate families. Veteran personnel from the RN, RM, RFA and MR and their families are also recognised as key beneficiaries. The Trust’s charitable objective is to promote the efficiency and welfare of the Armed Forces through the provision of quality leisure and recreational facilities. The Club is situated in its own stunning 180-acres on the banks of the River Tamar in Saltash, Cornwall. The Trust is proud to announce that during the last financial year beneficiary visits to the Club topped 46,000; fantastic support to and from the serving and retired communities.

Vice Admiral Connell, and his team, were in the West Country to attend a passing out parade of New Entry Royal Navy recruits at HMS Raleigh. 2SL took the opportunity to visit the Club and hear of the Trust’s plans to further develop facilities, promoting the enduring relevance of the Club in support of beneficiaries.
